On July 8, 2026, Japan officially imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled stainless steel coils, sheets, and strips originating from China and Taiwan (China), effective for four months-. The investigation was initiated on July 22, 2025, following a petition by domestic producers-. While the exact duty rates have not yet been publicly disclosed, this marks Japan's first major trade action against Chinese flat steel in recent years.

  • Australia
 – On June 24, 2026, Australia imposed provisional anti-dumping and countervailing duties on Chinese flat-rolled steel products, with rates ranging from 9.4% to 51.2% depending on the exporter.
  • Indonesia
 – Already imposed a 17.55% provisional anti-dumping duty on Chinese hot-rolled coil from Wugang.
The numbers are staggering: In the first half of 2026 alone, over 20 countries launched nearly 100 trade remedy investigations against Chinese steel products-. The global trade wall is closing fast.
