🚨 Japan Just Slapped 63.95%–68.67% Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Galvanized Steel – Your Asian Supply Chain Just Got More Expensive

The trade walls in Asia just got higher. On July 24, 2026, Japan‘s Ministry of Finance issued an official announcement imposing preliminary anti-dumping duties on hot-dip galvanized steel strips and sheets originating from China and South Korea.

Japan‘s authorities determined that dumped imports from China and Korea have caused material injury to Japan’s domestic industry.

Hot-dip galvanized steel (GI) is one of the most widely traded steel products globally. Japan is not just a major producer – it is also a significant market. These duties effectively price most Chinese GI out of the Japanese market.

And Japan is not alone. In just the past month:

 initiated an anti-dumping investigation on Chinese tin mill products (July 10)

 launched both an anti-dumping probe and a safeguard investigation on Chinese cold-rolled flat products (July 10)

 initiated an anti-dumping probe on Chinese welded steel pipes (July 6)

 imposed 9.4%–51.2% provisional duties on Chinese flat-rolled steel (effective June 24)
