Japan just added 50.1%–55.3% tariffs on hot-dip galvanized steel from China, effective August 8 through December 7, 2026. Major Chinese exporters including Angang Steel, Baoshan Iron & Steel, and Wuhan Iron & Steel face 50.1% tariffs, while all others face 55.3%. Japan‘s regular import tariff on these products is 0% – meaning this is a pure tariff bomb with no buffer.
